design concept
being own client is always a hard task, especially when the client is an architect. This suburban detached house was built in the mid 80s of the past century with a builder-mindset approach that left too many awkward spatial and programmatic issues on all levels. The renovation of the entire house` interiors, Pahse-1, came to resolve those issues as well as upgrading the finishes of the entire house with a subtle touch of mid-century modern spirit. Phase-2 of the project will be a complete upgrade of the landscape, designed by FRAGMENT architecture, along with a small addition to the home-office space that is happening on the front side of the house. Like any other project built by FA, depicting a dominant, existing pattern from the building itself was the first task to achieve. Taking off from this, implementing that pattern in a disseminating behavior was the main design strategy that took over the architecture and landscape architecture.
